2021: Climbing Mt. Success

Greetings readers and Happy New Year! My apologies for the prolonged silence as I was focused on meeting many established goals before the end of 2021. Over the past year, my time was allocated to completing my Masters in Computer Engineering, finding a full-time job as a Software Engineer, leading the Python Users Group at ASU, and working part-time as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. These external responsibilities felt strenuous at times, however, I managed to perform well in all areas with proper time management, thoroughly analyzing priority tasks, and making sacrifices.

By putting in the work, I successfully met all my goals for the year. I completed an amazing internship at Goldman Sachs as a Summer Analyst. I received a full-time offer from Boeing as a Software Engineer which I gratefully accepted. I was chosen as a Convocation Speaker for Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering and spoke in front of the entire graduating class of 2021. I completed my Masters Degree in Computer Engineering within one year with a GPA of 3.76. 2021 was a year where I learned how important it is to work hard and quietly in order to meet objectives. If you would like to view my speech, check out the full video here:

I would not have been able to meet any of these goals without making sacrifices. During this time, my patience and determination was often tested as I would face challenges that would cause me to think about how important are my goals. By reminding myself what the end goal is and how my actions now will reflect upon the type of future I want, I was able to put my head down and do the work. Temptation can really distract an individual and the only way to successfully conquer it is with discipline. Eliminating distractions, waking up on time, eating healthy, caring for relationships, practicing self-affirmations are all forms of discipline that really helped me meet my goals.

One particular lesson that I will take from 2021 is to make sure that I never neglect my loved ones and relationships. No matter how large a workload is, I must make sure to make time for loved ones as they are always there to support me. I would not be here today writing this post without their support. Work will always be there and it is important to get it done. However, it's important to make sure that I prioritize taking care of the people I love and myself as well. My loved ones remind me to stay humble. To be grateful for the opportunity to wake up to a new day and make a difference. Time is limited. It is important to make the most of every second of every day as we will not get that time back.

This year, I hope to stay in touch with you all and hope this year is healthy, prosperous and simply amazing for you all. Thank you for being a part of my journey and I will be in touch soon!
